Councilmember David Ryu Officially Launches Reelection Campaign

LOS ANGELES, CA -- Today, Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu filed his Declaration of Intention to Become a Candidate, officially launching his reelection campaign for Los Angeles City Council District Four.

“In 2015, I ran a grassroots campaign based on one thing: Putting the people’s voice back in City Hall,” Councilmember Ryu said. “Over the past four years, we have achieved historic reforms and built brand-new programs to improve our democracy, our City, and life in Council District Four. But the work is just getting started - we have so much left to accomplish and major reforms to make in City Hall. I am proud of the partnerships I’ve built and the broad coalition of support I have gained since entering office, and I look forward to engaging even more people in this important work as we march to victory on March 3, 2020.”

Ryu also released a new digital video ad with the launch of his re-election bid titled “Reformer,” which highlights his record of accomplishments on the City Council.

As part of his vision for his second term, Councilmember Ryu wants to continue taking on the housing and homelessness crisis, pursuing policies that level the playing field for all Angelenos, and protecting the City’s environment. This comes on the back of Councilmember Ryu’s prior work, restoring trust in government by initiating landmark campaign finance reforms for City elections, expanding park access, and championing over 500 beds of homeless housing in Council District Four. Councilmember Ryu has also worked on key quality of life policies in the district, revamping the City’s approach to infrastructure, increasing funding for public safety initiatives, and supporting community beautification and public art.

In the following weeks, Councilmember Ryu will roll out key campaign priorities and endorsements. The next step in his campaign will be collecting signatures from registered voters in Council District Four to appear on the March 3, 2020 ballot.
