Los Angeles Times Endorses Councilmember David Ryu
LOS ANGELES, CA -- Within days of announcing impressive endorsements to bolster his re-election campaign, today Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu announced that he has secured the coveted endorsement of the Los Angeles Times.
Remarking on its endorsement, the Times Editorial Board writes that Councilmember Ryu has “gotten solid marks from people working to house and serve homeless Angelenos for supporting more shelters and housing in his district, and for bringing a needed perspective as a former executive at Kedren Health, a provider of mental healthcare… Ryu has favored data-driven and services-based approaches that hold more promise over the long term.”
“I am so honored to receive this strong endorsement from one of the most influential papers in our nation,” said Councilmember David Ryu. “This endorsement is the result of all of our hard work these past four years and our commitment to solving the crisis of our time, homelessness, fighting for reform and transparency in City Hall, and opening up our parks and green spaces for all Angelenos. With 25 days left until Election Day, I could not be more happy to receive the Times’ endorsement.”
Since launching his re-election campaign, Councilmember Ryu has announced endorsements from 300 community leaders, Planned Parenthood & dozens of women leaders, environmental groups, the Democratic Party & local Democratic organizations, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, U.S. Congressman Adam Schiff and prominent congressional leaders, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti & fellow Los Angeles elected leaders, state legislators, County elected officials and the Los Angeles County Federation of Labor and over 30 individual labor unions.
