HOW TO VOTE

Election Day is almost here! But this year - voting will be different than ever before in LA County, especially if you vote in person.

VOTING CENTERS

Instead of having one polling location that you are assigned to, newly-designed vote centers will open up in locations throughout LA County the final 11 days of the election.  You will be able to vote at any vote center anywhere in LA County. A breakdown of the voting centers can be found below:

  • 11 day vote centers - February 22nd - March 3rd

  • 4 day vote centers  -  Feb 28th - March 3

  • Every vote center has designated poll workers to assist voters if requested

HOW VOTING CENTERS WILL WORK

Voting devices come with tactile keypad, headphones for audio ballots, and dual switch(av switch) for use with compatible assistant technologies. Voters can also adjust the contrast of the screen.

  • On the screen, press start and select your language

  • Place your paper ballot in the designated slot

  • I want to start voting (OR if you have a poll pass from completing the Interactive Sample Ballot click ‘I have a poll pass to scan’)

  • Click start voting, next

  • Go through the pages selecting your choice for each office

  • Once you’ve made your choices you’ll be given the option to review and make changes

  • Click next when you’re selections are correct

  • Yes I am ready to print, hit print

  • Ballot will print

  • Review the ballot

  • Either hit cast my ballot or if you have headphones the system can read the ballot back

  • Hit next

  • The system will submit the paper ballot to the designated security box

 

If you completed your Interactive Sample Ballot online it will create a ‘Poll Pass.’ You can take this poll pass to the vote center, scan it, review your selections, and submit it.

HOW TO VOTE BY MAIL

 

Ballots begin with city and local offices and end with the presidential election.


How to mark your ballot:
●    ONLY use blue or black ink pen to mark your choice on the ballot
●    Fill in the circle to the left of your choice completely
●    Do not vote for more choices than indicated​

Before you return your ballot make sure:

  • Your ballot is securely placed inside the Vote By Mail envelope

  • Sign the back of the Vote By Mail envelope

  • No postage is necessary!

 

 

How to return your ballot:

  • Mail your ballot

  • Drop it off at a Vote by Mail drop-off location

  • Take it to a voting location

  • If a voter is unable to return their VBM ballot they can designate any person to return their ballot for them as long as there is no compensation involved for that individual, group or organization returning the ballot

Assistance in Voting:

Under California law, any voter who needs help in casting a ballot is entitled to request assistance. A poll worker can provide assistance or the voter may select a person of his or her choice. If you are unable to mark your ballot yourself, you may select up to two people to help you cast your vote. The persons may not be your employer, your employer’s agent or your labor union leader or agent
